New Furniture | Went shopping up the the Los Santos Fair on Tuesday, April 29, with Sheila from XS. I ended up purchasing a couch, 2 swivel chairs, and table for around $350 - including the cushions. Matt promised me last year at the fair that this year I would get the new furniture!
We also stopped outside of Chitre at the turnoff to Los Santos at a craft place. I ended up and purchased 2 sets of ceramic parrots for the spare bedroom to hang on the wall for $10/pair. See the photos for the parrots by the window.

Sponser for Educacion Primero | Dennis Parsick and I took Luis and his mother to Penonomee shopping for school supplies and his uniforms for school.
Bob Stiff of 98.7 FM paid for his uniforms and Matt & I purchased his book bag and school supplies. On the way to Penonomee Dennis and I registered Luis and 2 of his siblings for school. Luis is the oldest of 9 children and wants to continue on with his high school education. Without Educacion Primero the family did not have the finances to keep him in school. |

Joke of the Month I've often been asked, 'what do you do now that you're retired?'
Well, I have a chemical background and one of the things I enjoy the
most is turning beer, vodka and wine into urine.
And, I'm pretty darn good at it!!

| Matt's Mom Matt's mom passed away today, April 24. She was 93 years old and still going strong. It was very sudden.
George Klein We lost a dear dear friend here in Panama today, March 9. George Klein was a wealth of information for people relocating or visiting PANAMA. He always was cheerful and drinking a can of Budweiser. He enjoyed talking to everyone and anyone who came into XS in the afternoons and was always joking saying his advise/information costs $0.26 to help fund his retirement. |
| Hospitals and Costs Matt had been in the hospital for 3 days in Penonomee because of an altercation with a Canadian. He ended up with 3 broken ribs, black eye, cuts on his arms and legs. They wanted to keep him for 7 days but I got him out after 3 days.
He had 12 x-rays, EKG, complete blood work done daily, 2 different IV's, etc. He had 5 other guys in the room with him. Our total bill for everything including medications for came to $65.00. UNBELIEVABLE!!!
The other person involved in the alteration has now been charged/served with our complaint via the national police in PANAMA. |
| Charity Work educacionprimero.org We are associated with a group of expats that are helping local schools. We build classrooms, lunch rooms, and bathrooms. We have installed electrical into some of the shools and even painted the classrooms. We also provide schools supplies and sporting equipment for the children.
Most teachers average $200/month salary so one expat closed their clothing store in the city and each teacher received 5 new outfits and 3 pair of shoes. |
