Lake Gatun Fishing | There is a friend of ours who does small fishing trips on Lake Gatun. I have heard the peacock bass fishing up there is wonderful--as you can see in the picture with Mike!
Mike has lived on Lake Gatun for a number of years and been in Panama for 8+ years.
To contact Mike send me an email or visit his website: www.thepanamaconnection.com |
Rio Hato Dancers UPDATE | This is a group of dancers between the ages of 5-12. They perform a number of dances showing their Carribean heritage.
www.educacionprimero.org sponsors the group. We are working trying to get them shows for private parties, hotels, and restaurants.
There was a film crew that came out to create a DVD we will be selling for $8.95. The DVD can be purchased at XS Memories in Santa Clara, they are taking pre-sales orders now.
Went on Friday, September 11, to edit the DVD to get ready to start selling. We also edited the promotional DVD to take to local hotels and restaurants.
This Sunday, October 25, www.educacionprimero.org is taking the 25 kids to see a show in the city, McDonald's, Aquarium, etc. thanks to the donations provided!!
Saturday, November 28, at 10:30 they will be teaching kids over at The Bristol/Buenaventura some of the dances! |
El Valle Market | El Valle is a great place to do touristy things for us. There is birding, hiking, thermal pools, canopy, waterfalls, square trees, hieroglyphics, market, snake pit, etc.
The market has all kinds of knick knacks and crafts. I have purchased all types of crafts for the house. The picture is of an artists that paints on feathers--he is working on my feather of a scarlett macaw for our spare bedroom.
I also get my fresh fruits and vegetables up there. On Saturday and Sunday there all types of plant vendors. There is also a great bakery down the street from the market that we totally enjoy--and our weight shows it!!
There are a lot of Bed and Breakfasts in El Valle. The ones we recommend are the Golden Frog Inn (www.goldenfroginn.com) ran by Becky and Larry Thormahlen; and Anton Valley Hotel (www.antonvalleyhotel.com) ran by Earle Hall and Les Perkins. The Anton Valley Hotel has breakfast open to the public, which is very good and we enjoy.
I picked up my feather on Saturday, Oct. 17. He did a gorgeous red macaw for our spare bedroom and I can't wait until Matt hangs it on the wall!!! |
WEBSITE | We started this website in 2003 and is one of the original websites on PANAMA. In 2008 we had 297,000 hits!
When we first bought our property in 2002 there wasn't much out there on the information highway.
Some of the people that helped us out are Jaime Figuora (www.panamaallinone.com), Tammy and Gustavo (www.panoramicpanama.com), and Dennis and Sheila Parsick (www.xsmemories.com).
Now we are trying to do the same thing to help people on finding their paradise for FREE.

Keg of Beer Anyone?? | We tapped a new keg on Friday, March 6, and after drinking some of the keg it was decided it was "skunky" when we were all sober (LOL). So on Sunday, March 8, we tapped another keg.
We returned the partial keg for a replacement on Monday to have another spare available. By Saturday, March 14, we had finished the GOOD keg--15.5 gallons of PANAMA beer.
Jon is holding the empty keg we polished off on Saturday, March 14.
Our next visitors are Dave and Colleen Veath from Huntley, IL. They will be visiting May 3-9. |
FIRES | It is the season where people start burning the land.
We can see this fire at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, from our house--the actual fire is about 2 miles away.
They burn the land to get ready for rainy season and to plant various crops (onions, corn, selantro, etc.). |
